Frequently Asked Questions
Do you Bulk-Bill?
Honeycomb Health is a private billing practice for the majority of services. Some health assessments and other services are automatically bulk-billed depending on criteria. You can see these in our services list. Here.
Do you change fees for concession, pension or students?
All patients aged 16 and under, and patients of any age who hold a valid Health Care Card or Pension Card, will automatically be billed at our reduced gap fee rates. If you don’t meet the criteria for our concession fees, or if you find that the out-of-pocket costs are prohibitive, we encourage you to please discuss this with your doctor.
I have a work cover or Transport Accident Claim, what happens?
If your visit is related to a WorkSafe, TAC claim or other insurance/law claims. You will still be required to pay your account on the day, and no Medicare rebate will be available; however, we will provide you with a copy of your paid invoice for you to claim externally. Please ensure you inform reception when booking the appointment.
Please note that some services are unable to be covered by Medicare or insurance. These services are required to be paid for on the day of your appointment.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard and EFTPOS. If a cash payment would be necessary, please discuss this with reception staff at the time of booking your appointment; these are available for safety reasons only and not as standard. We do not accept bank transfers unless from business payments for group invoices.
My medicare rebate is missing?
If your Medicare rebate is missing from your bank account after 48 hours, first check that your details are correctly registered with Medicare. If there is still an issue, please e-mail reception@honeycombhealth.com.au. Medicare will reject a claim if you have claimed a special service in the last 12 months (such as MHCP), and telehealth services are only eligible for rebates if you have visited the clinic in person in the last 12 months.
Why do you charge a cancellation fee?
Everyone’s time is precious. Missed appointments or late cancellation fees are charged to cover the time the GP could have spent with another patient. We have a 2-hour cancellation period, and under exceptional circumstances, we may waive the fee, but we will only do so once.
Repeat no-shows or unpaid accounts will result in a hold on patients being able to make more appointments.
What if I book a long appointment but don’t need the whole time, will I be charged?
You will only ever be billed for the time your appointment requires. To keep our GP’s books running smoothly and avoid delays where possible, if you think you need a long appointment or you can ‘squeeze in’ some extra concerns, please book a longer consult.
If you have concerns about whether the appointment type you have booked is appropriate, please see our handy information sheet here. Otherwise, call reception, and they will be happy to guide you to the right appointment type.
Why can’t I contact my GP directly?
Our GP’s rely on the process of structured appointment slots to run as effectively and efficiently as possible to see as many patients as they can. GP’s taking phone calls for questions would negate the appointment structure and cause delays to booked appointments.
Efficiency and reduction of delays is why we emphasise the need for patients to book the appropriate appointment type/length for the number of items patients need to discuss. This information can be found in our appointment FAQ, or you can ask our receptionists.
Are you open weekends?
We are currently trialing alternating Sunday morning appointments with Dr Blashki. Please check our social media, contact reception, or browse through our available Hotdoc appointments to find our next Sunday availability. We do offer extended consulting hours on Mondays and Thursdays, open 8 am – 6 pm and Tuesdays and Wednesdays, opening at 8 am.
What is My Medicare?
MyMedicare is a voluntary and free program rolled out by Medicare. It formally links you to your regular general practice and GP to unlock specific health and funding benefits. Eventually, only some bulk-billed services like Chronic Disease Management Plans and other assessments will be available to patients linked to the practice with MyMedicare. You can change your registration at any time, without notifying an old practice. Our receptionists can help you with a form, register for you or you can do it yourself on the MyMedicare app.
How do I get a mental health care plan?
If you haven’t had an initial consultation for a Mental Health Care Plan, which gives you rebates to see a psychologist or psychiatrist, in the last 12 months, you can book a 30-minute appointment online (long consult) or over the phone. If you feel you need the care plan and other concerns addressed, please book a prolonged appointment (45 minutes) via reception.
What assessments are bulk-billed and what am I eligible for?
We recommend eligible patients take advantage of these assessments where they can as a proactive and preventative measure.
Our most common bulk-billed assessment services are:
Heart Health Check – Available to patients aged 30 years and over who are not known to have cardiovascular disease.
Chronic Disease Management Plan – Available to patients who have chronic issues, this service replaced GP Management Plans and Team Care Arrangements in 2025.
45+ Health Assessment – Available for patients aged 45-49 years (inclusive) who are at risk of developing chronic disease, every 12 months.
75+ Health Assessment – Available for patients over 75 years, every 12 months.
Home Medicine Reviews – Available to patients who have chronic issues or complicated medication requirements.
These appointments are commonly done with both a GP and a nurse and run from 30-60 minutes. They are unable to involve regular appointment concerns or occur multiple times a year, or they will be rejected by Medicare. Each appointment type has differing eligibility requirements. Please speak to our reception team, the nurse, or your GP at your next appointment to find out if you’re eligible.
I have a question about a procedure or resource?
Please see our resources page here for patient hand-outs, information sheets and links. Any question you can’t find the answer to, please e-mail the reception team.
I missed my appointment, can you squeeze me in?
If you missed or no-showed your appointment, a make-up appointment on the same day with the same practitioner is not guaranteed. On occasion, our doctors do have same-day availability, but not always. We do offer a waitlist for your preferred practitioner, or appointments with other available doctors. A cancellation/no-show fee will still apply to your missed appointment.
How do I cancel or what if I am running late?
You can cancel up to two hours before your appointment online, or by calling the clinic. Appointments inside the 2-hour window will incur the cancellation fee, which must be paid at or before your next appointment.
If you are running late for your appointment, advance notice is appreciated; we may be able to reschedule you same day or change your appointment type from in-person to telehealth. If you are significantly late, with no notice, your appointment will be marked as a no-show, charged a cancellation fee, and a reschedule may not always be possible. This is out of respect for other patients’ time, in order to keep the clinic from experiencing delayed waiting times.
What if the GP is running late?
Emergencies happen, and sometimes our GP’s will be running behind schedule. We do our best to inform patients when there is a delay or extended waiting time, either in person or via text message.
To avoid experiencing delays, we ask patients to be on time, inform us of any time constraints you may have, book an appropriate appointment type and, of course, be understanding.
I forgot to ask about a script/certificate/another issue
If you have forgotten to ask for a script and it is your regular medication with no changes, you can request one through reception or through our on-demand repeat script service via Hotdoc.
If you need an attendance or carer’s certificate, you must have had an appointment or requested it the same day. If you have, but forgot to ask, you can call or e-mail reception and request it the same day.
If you have questions you forgot to ask during your appointment or about another issue, you will need to book a telehealth or second appointment.
If you have forgotten instructions given by your GP you can call reception, and they can check your notes and confer with the doctor if needed.
Can you do home visits?
Unfortunately, our doctors do not routinely do home visits. Some situations may qualify for telehealth services that do not require patients to attend the clinic every 12 months. Please speak to or e-mail reception about your situation.
Do you take walk-in appointments?
On occasion, our doctors do have same-day availability, but not always. If you can’t see the availability on Hotdocs, please call reception.
If there is an emergency, it is most appropriate to head to an urgent care clinic or the emergency room. The Victorian Virtual Emergency Department is an incredible resource accessible from all devices. It’s available here.
I’m under 18, do I need a parent with me? What is my privacy like as a teenager?
You do not need an ‘adult’ with you to make an appointment or be seen in the clinic. Patient privacy is of the utmost importance to us, and your consultations are protected. No one will be given any information without your express consent. If at any point you feel pressured to give consent but do not wish to, please communicate in any way you can to any one of our staff, and we will assist.
Any person you wish to permit to request or enquire on your behalf will need to be nominated on a form available from our reception team.
My regular GP is unavailable, what can I do?
Our GPs work collaboratively, meaning all of our GP’s can see previous notes and consultations if required. If your regular GP is not available, please feel free to see another in the clinic who is.
Can I bring someone to my appointment?
Support persons are welcome in appointments, subject to behaviour, privacy and consent. Tandem or family appointments are available, but each patient must have their own appointment. Multiple people can not be seen under one name.
How do I transfer my Medical information from an old practice?
Transferring your records is easy. Simply fill out this online form here or ask for a physical form next time you are in the clinic. We send the request to your old practice and then they may contact you for a fee before transferring.
What is lifestyle medicine?
Our approach to lifestyle medicine is about being realistic with health care needs and goals, while being proactive and taking preventative steps to protect your health and wellbeing.
We are committed to preventative medicine and chronic disease management through a model that combines general practice, allied health, and lifestyle interventions. By fostering strong communication, innovation, and connection, we aim to empower individuals to actively participate in their health journey—building confidence, knowledge, and lasting wellbeing
We are not anti-medication or intervention, and we are not integrative medicine. We simply make sure our patients are presented with realistic options that suit their lifestyle and their needs.
I have sensory or accessibility needs, can you help?
Our clinic amenities for accessibility include:
No-step access, wide doors, an accessible bathroom, and power adjustable beds.
Trained assistance animals are welcome in the clinic. Please call ahead and let us know if they will be attending. Pets, emotional support animals, or uncertified/untrained animals are not permitted.
For sensory issues, some consults can happen in our Zen room, or away from a clinical setting. Please let us know before your appointment if this may be beneficial, but note that not all consults or procedures can accommodate this.
Can you give me my family members’ results?
Unless a form has been signed by the paitent for a third party’s right to enquire, we cannot give results or information of any kind to anyone other than the patient.
I haven’t heard about my test results yet?
You will always receive communication from us about your results — even when they are normal.
You may hear from us via:
• Text message
• Phone call
• A request to book a follow-up appointment
Please contact us if you haven’t received any communication within 3 weeks of having your test.
What do I need for my appointment?
For first appointments, we will need you to fill out a new patient form either in person or online, which requires a valid Medicare card to be able to claim any Medicare rebate for you. If you wish to transfer your medical records, there is another form available. Record transfers are not guaranteed to happen before your appointment. If you have specific issues or results to discuss, please bring any notes, results, or reports from your previous practice.
For any visits where it is not your first time, bringing anything relevant, such as a list of questions/needs, can sometimes be helpful to make sure nothing is forgotten.
Do you have pathology onsite?
We do not currently have pathology available onsite.
Do I need an appointment for a referral?
Yes, new and repeat referrals require appointments. Some of these can be telehealth or repeat requests, but most do require a regular appointment.
Can I get a script on my first appointment?
Some scripts can be offered at first appointments; it is up to the discretion of the doctor. Scripts involving pain relief, restricted, or Schedule 8 medications will not be prescribed on first visits to the clinic.
